Trolls Band Together is an upcoming animated musical comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is based on the popular Good Luck Trolls dolls created by Thomas Dam. Serving as the sequel to Trolls World Tour (2020) and the third installment in the Trolls franchise, the film is directed by Walt Dohrn, with Tim Heitz as the co-director.

The star-studded cast includes Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Zooey Deschanel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Icona Pop, Anderson .Paak, Ron Funches, Kenan Thompson, Kunal Nayyar, Dohrn, and Eric André, Kid Cudi, Daveed Diggs, Troye Sivan, Camila Cabello, Amy Schumer, Andrew Rannells, RuPaul, and Zosia Mamet joining the ensemble as newcomers.

In the sequel, Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake), who are now officially a couple, embark on a mission to rescue Floyd (Sivan). Along the way, they also strive to reunite Branch’s brothers after their boyband, BroZone, disbanded.

The idea for a sequel to Trolls World Tour was sparked before the film’s release in April 2020. In November 2021, DreamWorks Animation officially confirmed the development of the sequel. Excitingly, in March 2023, the film unveiled new characters, along with the announcement of additional cast members and the film’s title. While the majority of the film is CGI animation, it also incorporates some captivating 2D animation sequences. These sequences draw inspiration from iconic works like Yellow Submarine (1968) and Fantasia (1940), adding an extra layer of visual delight to the film.

Theodore Shapiro, composer behind the score for Trolls World Tour, is returning to create the score for movie. Trolls Band Together is set to be released in theaters in the United States on November 17, 2023.
